Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants are anchored directly into the jawbone — giving you a permanent, stable result that looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural tooth.

  • Look and feel natural — Indistinguishable from real teeth — no one will know
  • Permanent solution — With proper care, implants can last 20+ years or a lifetime
  • Preserve your jawbone — Prevent the bone loss that accelerates after tooth loss
  • No impact on neighbours — Unlike bridges, no grinding down of adjacent healthy teeth
  • Eat and speak freely — No slipping, no restrictions — complete confidence

The Castlemill Difference

Southern Implants — the strongest titanium available

We use Southern Implants, widely regarded as the most innovative system on the market. Their titanium is uniquely strong — meaning we can place narrower implants in patients with limited bone, without compromising durability. For many patients, this removes the need for invasive procedures before treatment can begin.

Versah Densah® burr system — avoiding bone grafts

We use the Versah Densah® burr system to prepare the implant site. Rather than simply cutting bone, these burrs can densify existing bone or gently expand the ridge — often eliminating the need for a separate bone graft. Fewer procedures, lower cost, faster overall timeline.

Honest Pricing

No hidden fees, no surprises. Full cost breakdown given at your free consultation before you commit to anything. Finance options available to spread the cost.

All In-House

Consultation, placement, and crown — all managed by Dr. O'Kane at our Balbriggan clinic. No referrals, no travelling to a specialist. Seamless care from start to finish.

Common Questions

Does getting a dental implant hurt?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should feel no pain during placement. Most patients are pleasantly surprised — many describe it as more comfortable than a tooth extraction. Some tenderness in the days after is normal and easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Dr. O'Kane will talk you through exactly what to expect at your free consultation.
I've been told I don't have enough bone for an implant. Can I still have one?
Bone loss after tooth loss is common, but it rarely rules out implants at Castlemill. We use the Versah Densah® burr system, which allows us to densify or expand existing bone during placement — often eliminating the need for a separate bone graft. Combined with Southern Implants' narrow-diameter options, we can successfully treat many patients who've been told elsewhere they need grafting first. Dr O'Kane will assess your bone volume via X-ray at your free consultation and confirm your options.
How long does the whole process take?
From consultation to final crown, the typical timeline is 4–8 months. This includes a healing period of 3–6 months after placement, during which the implant fuses with the jawbone — a process called osseointegration. You'll have a temporary crown throughout, so you won't be walking around with a gap. For patients with good bone density, immediate loading (teeth in a day) may shorten the process significantly.
What is the healing like after implant placement?
Most patients return to normal activities the day after the procedure. There is usually some swelling and tenderness for the first few days, which settles quickly. Dr. O'Kane provides full aftercare instructions and is available if you have any concerns. The long healing phase (osseointegration) is passive — the bone is fusing around the implant and you won't feel it happening.
