Gum Rejuvenation

Our Aim with Dental Implants

What our aim is in long term success for adults is to treat underlying causes. For example if you are grinding or if you have teeth out of place these things can cause gum issues.

If you imagine if you had a pole in the sand and you wiggled it, the pole would cause a hole to appear in the sand. The point where the most stresses are, is where the sand meets the pole at the top. This is the same where the tooth meets the bone. This problem could cause gum rejuvenation to not work long term. Hence we must correct the heart of the issue, often with orthodontics or other techniques. At Castlemill Dental Clinic we look at the whole picture to ensure your long term success is as assured as possible.

He realises that gum rejuvenation and case selection is extremely important avoid disappointment in long term and maximise chances of long term success. We have several alternative treatment options available in case gym rejuvenation would not give an ideal outcome. In light of this he is currently undertaking research project with Geistlich Bio-Oss from Switzerland. They are manufactures of the number one recommended material for the procedure. We currently have a long prospective study underway to best evaluate which cases respond well.

How it works

This noninvasive technique replaces the gum that is gone by making a pinhole at the top of your teeth, near the roots. We’ll go through this hole with a needle and don’t need to raise flaps or take skin grafts.

There is no cutting or stitching involved, so there is little to no recovery time or pain. Your teeth will be back to where they used to be, giving your smile an instant improvement. In total, the procedure takes just one to two hours.

Getting your gums rejuvenated

What to expect

The gum rejuvenation procedure usually involves one visit to fix the gums… then a few checkups to ensure long term success.

We will explain the procedure to you. We let you know it’s done by creating small pin holes above your teeth near the roots, etc.

We then do an examination to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for gum rejuvenation. Vast majority of cases are suitable.

We numb the gums using local anesthetic. If you’re nervous about anesthetic injections you can request ‘the wand’ which is completely pain free.

Then we begin the pin hole gum rejuvenation. It takes one or two hours and there is little to no recovery time or pain.

Once the procedure is complete, your gums will be looking instantly better. You will no longer be ‘long in the tooth’ and you’ll have a more youthful smile immediately.

After the treatment we need to do follow up checkups 1 day, 1 week, 3 weeks and 6 weeks after. This is to ensure long term success and included in the treatment price.

Please note this treatment doesn’t work for everyone. You will be given a customized treatment plan on the day of examination. We look at the full picture to see if something is causing the gum recession and treat that first for best long term results. Enjoy a no risk complimentary consultation.
